The eMate was introduced in March 1997 solely for the education market. It was discontinued in March 1998, after the return of Steve Jobs to Apple. It had a 480 x 320 backlit 16-shade greyscale display, 25 MHz ARM 710a RISC processor, 8 MB of ROM, and 3 MB of RAM (1 MB of DRAM, 2 MB of flash).
My school purchased 16 of these in 1997. I purchased mine on ebay around 2008 (?).
