“Al G. Field’s career makes an interesting story. His first public appearance was in 1869 in Brownsville with a home talent minstrel show in which he was ‘bones’ and Billy Story ‘tambourine’. Tommy White who later entered vaudeville and Will Hyatt were dancers; the Acklin brothers, John, Charles and Alonzo, vocalists; Will Getty guitarist and Charles Wagner violinist.”

He is named “Long Acklin” on his son Charles’ death certificate.
