“Mr. & Mrs. Frank W. Acklin, of Tyrone, were here this week attending the funerals of the father & sister of the former.”

Obituary, paper & date unknown:
Frank was identified as a son in his father’s obituary (1897) and was living in Tyrone at the time.136

“Long Illness Ends In Death of F. W. Acklin
Following an extended illness, attributed to a complication of ailments, Frank W. Acklin, prominent Tyrone business man for fifty-nine years, died this morning at 2:45 o’clock at his home at 1061 Lincoln avenue.
Mr. Acklin was a son of John R. and Rebecca Acklin and was born at Brownsville, Pa., June 22, 1866. In September, 1888, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth A. Kaiser, who survives.
They came to Tyrone fifty-nine years ago and Mr. Acklin engaged in the jewelry business as a member of the firm of Walton and Acklin, and in the death of the senior member of the firm, Isaac Walton, Mr. Acklin took over the business which he operated under the name, The Acklin Jewelry company, for almost half a century.
Throughout his life, Mr. Acklin was prominently identified with the affairs of Tyrone borough, the Prisbyterian church, of which he was a member and was prominently identified with the leading fraternal organizations of his home town, the district and the state.
Mr. Acklin was a singer of considerable note. He served for many years as choir leader and bass soloist in his home church and sang on special occasions throughout the state. He was one of the organizers of the Shrine Chanters of Jaffa Shrine temple, of which he served as illustrious potentate in 1926.
Mr. Acklin served a number of years on the Tyrone borough council and for many years was a member of the borough school board and only last year he was elected on both the Republican and Democratic tickets to a full six-year term.
While a member of the council, the present Municipal building was erected in Tyrone and he was a member of the building committee of Jaffa Shrine when the mosque was erected on Broad avenue, Altoona.
His lodge affiliations were The Tyrone lodge No. 494, F. and A. M., the Harrisburg consistory, Mountain Royal Arch, chapter, No. 189, Mountain Commandery, No. 10, Knights Templar, the Masonic council and Jaffa Shrine in Altoona.
Mr. Acklin was also affiliated with other fraternal groups, including Court No. 70, Royal Order of Jesters, the State Shrine, Tyrone lodge, No. 213, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, the Royal Order of Moose, No. 25, of Tyrone, Junior Order United American Mechanics, No. 42, Allegheny Gateway lodge, No. 187, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Royal Arcanum and the Modern Woodmen of America.
Mr. Acklin took a prominent part in civic affairs in Tyrone and was one of the organizers of the Tyrone.... (rest of obituary is missing)”
