Obituary:
“Nelle G. Grimm
Nelle Grimes Grimm, 96, formerly of East Maiden Street, Washington, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, January 16, 1984, in the Presbyterian Home, where she had lived since 1972.
She was born June 28, 1887, in West Alexander, daughter of John H. Grimes and Margaret Harsha Grimes.
She taught in Washington County schools for 35 years, 20 of those in Canton Township.
She was a member of the Washington County Branch of the Pennsylvania Association of the Blind and an active member of Washington Lions Club Auxiliary, having served 20 years as chairman of the auxiliary’s Eye Conservation Committee.
She devoted much of her time to the prevention of blindness in children.
She also was a membe of Faith United Presbyterian Church, a 40-year member of the church Women’s Fidelis Missionary Society, which she served as treasurer, and a member of the Washington County Retired Teachers Association, the National Retired Teachers Association and the Martha V. Paul Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
On April 6, 1910, she married Harley m. Grimm, who died September 4, 1963.
Surviving are a brother, Robert E. Grimes of Wheeling, W. Va., and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Clark T. Grimes, and a sister, Evelyn Dorsey, are deceased.”
