Gustaf and Magdalena had eight children.
1243“The Descendants of the Reverend Larrs Karlsson Lock” by Edith Davis Locke gives a birth year of ca 1668, not ca 1680 given by Peter Stebbins Craig.
Gustaf’s will was proved Nov. 4, 1742.
143 “In the name of God, Amen, I Jestah Lock of the Townshp of Greenwich, County of Gloucester and Province of West New Jersey, Yeoman Beig somewhat out of order in Body but of perfect Memory and Understandig thanks be given to Almighty God for it and Calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and being well assured that all Men once must Dye . . . this my Last WIll and Testament . . . I gie and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my Body, I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and Decent Manner at the discretion of my executor hereafter Named and am touching such wordly estate where with it hath pleased God to Bless me in this life, I give and dispose of the same in Manner and form following, Viz . . . Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Andrew Lock and to his heirs and assign for ever all of my Lande Meadows and Rites and Title for Lands that any wise (?) Belong to Me, Excepting the land that I give to my son, Swan Lock with eight acres of meadows Lying on Rapapah Creek; Swan shall take the Meadow four acres in Ditch and four Acres out of ditch and one pair of oxen to my son, Andrew Lock and also excepting of the . . . of that land which I purchafed of John Ladd when my son Swan takes his complement out and excepting of ten acres of swamp in Ditch. Item. I give and bequeath unto my two sons, Zebulon and Jestah Lock the remainder of that land I purchased of John Ladd to be equally divided between them as also five acres of swamp apiece to ditch lying on Repaupah Creek as also my sons Swan and Andrew Lock shall pay my two sons Zebulon and Jestah Lock Two Pounds Ten Shillings to each when they come to age of twenty one years.
I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Magdelena Lock, all my moveables excepting of one pair of oxen to my son Aandrew Lock. The moveables shall be at my wife’s disposing to give to my daughters as she thinks proper, and it is my mind and will that my said wife shall have her maintenance of the land with my sone Andrew Lock.
And it is my mind and will that my well beloved wife, Magdelena and my son, Andrew Lock, Exec. of this my Last Will and Testament Hereby Revoaking all othe rWills by me heretofore made and ordering them to pay out of my said Personal(?) Estate my Funeral expenses ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. Inwitness whereof I have hereunto sett my Hand and Seal this eighth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty two.”
