“WAYNESBURG - Agnes Violet Staggers, 64, of Mt. Morris Star Route, Waynesburg, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 1979, at the West Virginia University Hospital following an extended illness.
Born March 25, 1915, at Fish Creek, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Mathias and Ella Whitlatch Riggs.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur D. Staggers, whom she married June 22, 1935.
Except for the past five years spent in the Waynesburg area, she spent her entire life in Holbrook, and was a member of the Church of God.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five stepdaughters, Mrs. John (Eleanor) Murdock of RD 5, Waynesburg, Mrs. Dennison (Marie) Benson of San Bernardino, California, Mrs. James (Gaye) Smith of RD 2, Prosperity, Mrs. Arthur (Artie Mankey of Mt. Morris Star Route and Ferne Riggs Haught of Morgantown, West Virginia; a stepson, Russell Staggers of RD 2, Waynesburg; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Nellie) Carter and Mrs. Dorse (Thelma) Carter, both of RD 1, Holbrook; two brothers, Senate W. Riggs of Washington, Pa. and Victor Riggs, of Pittsburgh; 23 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Allen Staggers, and by three sisters, Vern, Opal and Dorothy.
STAGGERS - Friends of Agnes Violet Staggers 64, of Waynesburg, who died Thursday, Dec. 27, 1979, will be received at the Mariner and Milliken Funeral Home in Waynesburg from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 29, at the funeral home with the Reverend Henry A. Young officiating. Burial will be at the Braddock Cemetery in Graysville.”
