“Stoy E. Morris
Delphene farmer retired from PennDOT
“Stoy E. “Jack” Morris, 95, of Holbrook R.D.1 (Delphene), died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Septermber 13, 1999, in Greene County Memorial Hospital emergency room. Mr. Morris had been in failling health for the past year and a half, but his death was unexpected.
He was born February 1, 1904, in Jackson Township (Delphene), a son of Isaac Newton and Ethel Iota Loughman Morris.
Mr. Morris resided in Jackson and Aleppo townships all his life, and attended Maranantha Baptist Church at Holbrook R.D.1.
He was a self-employed farmer as long as his health permitted and was a former employee of Penn Line Service, the former Bissett oil and Gas Co. He had worked as a timberman, and was last employed as a laborer with the state Department of Transportation prior to his 1967 retirement.
On May 12, 1923, he married Sarah Ann Rhome, who survives and with whom he recently celebrated their 76th Anniversary.
Also surviving are three sons, Harry N., Herman and Jack Morris, all of Holbrook R.D.1; four gaughters, Mildred Temple and Betty Weaver, both of New Freeport R.D.1 and Mabel Crawford and Vada Lou Pettit, both of Holbrook R.D.1; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one step-grandson; three step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Floyd Morris; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Rhome and Bessie Ward; a granddaughter, Donna Jean Crawford; and a great-grandson, Barry Pettit.
Mr. Morris was the last of his immediate family.”
