Anthony immigrated in 1717 to Conestoga Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. “Tradition has been that the original Kneisley/Kneissel family was established in America by Anthony and his three sons, John, Goerge and Anthony. They came from Switzerland and due to religious persecution they immigrated to the Palitinate area of Germany, and then to Rotterdam, Holland. They and others by the name of Andreas Kauffman who married Elizabeth Knussli and Isaac Kauffman who marrie dAnna Knussli, Michael Miller who married Barbara Knussli, John Witmer, Hans Shank, Hans Brubaker, henry Musselman, with their families embracing 363 persons came to Philadelphia a few days before Sep. 8, 1717 where they seem to have been met by Martin Kendig and Hans Herr, who conducted them to Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania.” (from The Origin of the Kneisely Family)113
