“John A. Anderson
Member of First United Methodist Church
John Arthur Anderson, 77, of Amity (Lone Pine), died Friday, July 23, 1999, at his daughter’s home.
He was born July 30, 1921, in Marianna, a son of Arthur J. and Geraldine B. Fisher Anderson.
Mr. Anderson had attended Marianna Borough School. He had been employed by Bethlehem Mines Corp., Mine 58, in Marianna for more than 46 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Washington. Mer. Anderson had been attending North Ten Mile Baptist Church the last several years.
He had served with the CCC Corps during the 1930s. He was a member of Greene County Fun Squares, Beth-Center Senior Citizens, Buttons and Bows in Washington and the UMWA Local 2874 in Marianna.
On August 28, 1941 he married Aldine D. Staggers Anderson, who died September 2, 1994.
Surviving are one daughter, Aldene “Cookie” Nicholls of Lone Pine; four brothers, Donald Anderson of Amity, Cecil Anderson of Marianna, Kay Anderson of Fredericktown and Alan Anderson of Hood River, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are one grandson, Michael Wayne Nicholls; two brothers, Melvon Anderson and Robert Anderson, who died in infancy; and one sister, Vivian Anderson, who died in infancy.”248
