Richard W. Poland is dead in Kansas Home:
Waynesburg, March 10--Brice W. Kennedy, of Waynesburg, received word today of the death of Richard W. Poland, which occurred Wednesday, March 8, at the home of his son, Frank Poland, at Independence, Kansas. The funeral was held at that place today.
Mr. Poland was a life long resident of Greene County. He was aged 86 years, and left here about 4 years ago to make his home with his son in Missouri. Mr. Poland was well-known in Waynesburg, having worked for a number of years on the local theaters. He was twice married. his first wife was Maria Staggers Poland, and his second wife was Elizabeth Scott Poland. Both are dead. One sister [sic — should be daughter] Mrs. Flora Wagner, of near Washington, and one son Frank Poland with whom he made his home the past few years, survive.

Came here four years ago from Pennsylvania
Richard W. Poland, 82, died at 5:15 pm yesterday at the home of his son, Frank Poland, 720 Birch, of an illness lasting two weeks. He had suffered a general breakdown of health.
Mr. Poland came to Independence four years ago to make his home, from Waynesburg, Penn., where he had spent most of his life. His wife had been dead for 32 years.
Surviving besides the son, are: One daughter, Mrs. George Wagner, Baggaley, Penn., and one brother, William Poland, Washington, Penn.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Potts’ chapel with the Rev. Frank E. Bright of the First Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Interment will be made in Mount Hope Cemetery.
