Died December 15, 1995

St. Marys--W. D. “Wink” Locke, 71, of Miles Health Care Center, Damariscotta, Maine, died Dec. 15, 1995, at the health care center after a heart attack.

He was born in Hebron, a son of the late Walter and Trudia Jones Locke. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and after his discharge he accepted a position with the United Telephone Co. in St. Marys working as an engineer. He was transferred to Fort Kent, Maine, in 1964 with the Continental Telephone Co. becoming state manager of Maine in 1973. He contined his position with Contel until retiring in 1983 after 37 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and during his retirement enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Anne Locke, two sons, Walter Locke of Charleston and Robert Locke of Hanson, Mass.; one daughter, Janice Purslow of Fryeburg, Maine; one stepson, Kenneth Flanders of North Reading, Mass.; three stepdaughters, Kathryn Kelsey of Gray, Maine, Michele Brown and Beth Flanders both of Damariscotta; three sisters, Opal Locke, Neva Cornell and Phyllis Hall, all of St. Marys; two brothers, Norman Locke of Duncan Falls, Ohio, and Harold Locke of Louisville, Ohio, and 15 grandchildren.

Services 11am Tuesday, Strong Funeral Home, Damariscotta. Burial Harrington Cemetery, Pemequid, Maine.

Visitation 6-8 pm Monday.
