“Joy S. McCollum
Joy S. McCollum, 76, of Holbrook, died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2006, in Washington Hospital, following a two-year battle with cancer.
She was born November 11, 1930, in Center Township, a daughter of Walter Ray and Nellie Grace Cumberledge Stockdale, and had resided in Richhill Township and Delmont prior to returning to Center in 1960.
Mrs. McCollum was a former member of Centennial Church of God, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and deaconess, and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Waynesburg.
A 1948 graduate of Center Township High School, Mrs. McCollum was a loving wife and good mother who enjoyed sewing, wallpapering and upholstering.
On November 13, 1948, she married Dennis E. McCollum, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Marilyn, wife of Jim Facemire, and Ruth Ann McCollum, both of Waynesburg; a son, Phillip, husband of Myleen McCollum of Sycamore; a goddaughters, Sue, wife of Richard Ealy of Sycamore; three sisters, Faith, wife of Jack Gillogly of Holbrook, Hope Basore of Toledo, Ohio, and Grace Isiminger of Washington; two granddaughters, Carrie Sommers and Anna Pryce; two grandsons, Michael, husband of Carie Facemire, and Seann McCollum; and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five sisters, Blanche Brannon, Helen Singleton, Fern Stockdale, Marie Stewart and Pauline Wise; and two brothers, Jack and Harry Stockdale.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 24, with the Rev. John Poling officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township. The family suggests memorial contributions to First CHurch of the Nazarene, 115 Deerfield Lane, Waynesburg, PA 15370, or to your local chapter of American Cancer Society.
