“Frances E. Spencer
Frances Eloise Ayers Spencer, 83, of Parkersburg, passed away Feb. 26, 2011, at Highland Oakes Nursing Center at McConnelsville, Ohio.
She was born Sept. 20, 1927, at White Pine in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Arlie M. and Nellie Jane Stutler Ayers.
Frances was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and Wood County Vocational Technical Center. She worked as a child development teacher for the YWCA Day Care for 26 years and was employed there for 27 years. She was also a volunteer at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital for 18 years.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff (Beverly) Spencer of Parkersburg and John (Amy) Spencer of Fayette City, Pa.; six grandchildren, Ryan (Adrienne) Spencer, Ethan Spencer, Jason Spencer and Stacy Spencer, all of Parkersburg, and Luke Spencer and Ben Spencer, both of Fayette City; one great-grandson, Easton Spencer; two brothers, Herman M. Ayers of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Raymon L. Ayers of Sutton, W.Va.; one sister, Orma Connard of Grantsville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. David Spencer.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg. Pastor Joe Ward will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
