Lived in Wetzel Co., WV, Monroe Co., OH, and Tyler Co., WV according to Harper Grimm, Jr. If this is correct, he lived in Wetzel Co., WV until 1865 or so. By 1868 he was in Ohio, where he lived until at least 1877 when Lettetia was born.
Salem was born in 1836, according to Shirley Lazear
73 and to Harper Grimm, Jr.
826 Tombstone reads “Grim, Salem February 22, 1831 March 6, 1899”
68“Salem enlisted on August 15, 1862, at New Martinsville, in the Union Army during the Civil War, and was mustered into service at Wheeling on September 8, 1862, as Sergeant in Company C., 15th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry, was promoted to 1st Sergeant in 1864, and to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1865. He was honorably discharged June 14, 1865, at Richmond, having served for the duration of the war. He returned home to Van Camp and moved his family to Sardis, [Monroe Co.] Ohio, and in 1877 moved to Little Tyler County, where he engaged in farming and served for years as a Justice of the Peace for Union District.”
