In 1871 Daniel & Mary signed an affidavit concerning Mary’s brother, Thomas Grim in his pension application:
Daniel McCullough & Mary McCullough residents of the County and the State aforesaid [Tyler Co., WV] whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who, being by me first duty sworn, according to law, do depose and say, that they are well acquainted with Thomas Grim who has made application for a pension as the father of Armstrong Grim dec’d late a Private in Company “E” of the Tenth Regiment of West Virginia Infantry Vols. also with his wife Rachel Grim And that they were present at the marriage of said Thomas Grim & Rachel Grim which took place on the 13th day of February 1817 in Greene County in the State of Pennsylvania and they further say that their knowledge of the above facts is obtained from the following source, viz: by being themselves present at the marriage of said Thomas Grim & Rachel Grim as aforesaid and that they have no interest nor concerned in the prosecution of the claim of Thomas Grim for Pension in case of said soldier.
This affidavit was signed by Daniel McCollough [sic]; Mary made her mark. It was witnessed by Daniel McCollaugh [sic] and Joseph McCollough [sic], probably their sons. The affidavit was sworn on July 6, 1867.
768Daniel and Mary also signed a paper January 13, 1871 declaring that Armstrong Grim was a son of Thomas and Rachel Grim, which was known to them because Mary was present at Armstrong’s birth and Daniel was a close neighbor and husband of Mary.
768Age at death was 78 years 7 months. Wife was identified as Phebe McCullough.
