Obituary:
“Gerald Headley, 90, of Wind Ridge, died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 1998, in the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Waynesburg, following a brief illness.
He was born December 14, 1907, in Richhill Township, (Long Run), a son of Oscar Rolly and Urbana Kerr Headley.
Mr. Headley spent most of his life in the Wind Ridge and Richhill Township area, with the exception of the 15 years he lived in Waynesburg.
He was a former employee of Peoples and Carnegie Gas companies, and was last employed as a shop manager for the Pittsburgh Pipe Cleaning Co. of Zelienople for 25 years.
Mr. Headley was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army as a tech 5 with the 9361st Technical Service Unit.
He was a retired member of the Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Department, a former member of the Waynesburg American Legion Post 330, and a former member of the Wind Ridge Sportsman Club. He was also a charter member and the first fire chief of the Richhill Township VFD.
Mr. Headley was Protestant. he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
On December 15, 1928, he married Genevieve “Babe” Claire Grim Headley, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Shirley Lazear of Cameron, W. Va. and Linda Conkey of Wind Ridge; a sister, Mary Kathryn Nelson of Washington; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are two sons, Allen Gene and Robert Richard Headley; and one great-grandson, Jesse Aaron Lazear.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Rush Funeral Home in Rogersville.”
