Thomas and Phebe lived in Aleppo Twp., Greene Co., PA. Thomas was a member of the 15th WV Infantry.933

“He enlisted on August 28, 1862 in Marshall Co., WV with Co. I, 15th Regiment of WV Volunteers to serve 3 years, or during the war. He was mustered into service as a Private on the 11th day of October, 1862 in Wheeling, WV. There is some question as to where he died. Some of the papers say Clarysville, MD and other say the hospital in Cumberland, MD. The towns are not too far apart.”931

Thomas may have died in Clarysville , MD according to the Widow’s Claim for Pension filed by Phebe Fonner.930

His grave marker at Antietam National Cemetery may read Thomas Farmer; grave No./Sec. 2886.928
