Jesse’s first marriage certificate says he was born in Calhoun Co., WV. His second marriage certificate gives birthplace as Melllin, Ritchie Co., WV.
Jesse served in World War I, according to his death certificate.
Jesse and Sarah had three children, born in 1923, 1930, and 1933. The middle child died in 1930.

Jesse R. Cooper, 72, of Beech Bottom, died Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Ohio Valley General Hospital, Wheeling.
He was born Dec. 27, 1896, in Mellin, W.Va., son of the late William Henry and Sarah Dotson Cooper.
Mr. Cooper had resided in Parkersburg 45 years and for the past five months he was a resident of Beech Bottom.
While in Parkersburg, he was a self-employed barber for 41 years. He retired from the business in June of 1969.
Mr. Cooper was a member of the Church of Christ at McKinleyville, W.Va. He served with the U.S. Army during World War I.
He was married June 9, 1969, in Weirton, to the former Evelyn Daines.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Evangelist Denver Cooper of Weirton and Evangelist Donald R. Cooper of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; one step-daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Shirley) Carroll of Beech Bottom; one stepson, John Daines of Wellsburg; two brothers, Zanos Cooper of Elizabeth, W.Va., and A.M. Cooper of Vienna, W.Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Fortney of Clarksburg, Mrs. Clyde (Della) Lemon of Florida, and Mrs. Charles Herbert (Laura) Lindamood of Parkersburg; 22 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Frinds may call at the Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, Penco Road, Weirton Heights, from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Prayer services wil be held at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Evangelist Waymon Summers of the Church of Christ, officiating.
The body will be removed to the Church of Christ, Rosemar Road, Parkersburg, where friends will be received from 11 a.m. Saturday until time of services at 2:30 p.m. Evangelist Tom W. Butterfield will officiate. Interment will be made in Arlington Memorial Gardens, North Parkersburg.
