Funeral Service to be held Saturday for Jonas V. Chess

Waynesburg, Jan. 29.--Jonas V. Chess, aged 71 years, died Tuesday at 12:45 P.M. at his home at Wind Ridge, R. D. 1, following a three-year illness. He was born Feb. 28, 1864, a son of Thomas and Martha Grimm Chess and spent his entire life on the farm where he was born.

He married Ada Phillips Oct. 27, 1894. He was a farmer and stock raiser all his life. He was a member of the Wind Ridge Christian Church for 42 years and of the Knights of Pythias Lodge at Graysville.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Velma Headley, wife of G. C. Headley, of near Bristoria; one granddaughter, Lucille Headley, and one brother, S. C. Chess, of Wind Ridge, R. D. 1.

Funeral services will be held Saturday Feb. 1, at the Ralph H. Scott Funeral Home in Rogersville at 1 o’clock, in charge of the Rev. A. M. Riggs. The body will be at the funeral home until the service. An additional service will be held at the grave by the Knights and Pythias Lodge.81
