Sarah’s parents died when she was a young girl, so she lived with other families. In 1870 Sarah lived in Jackson Township with Melvin and Mary Hull, along with Mary’s mother, Lydia Ann Morris. In 1880 she was living with Wililam and Charlotte Morris of Jackson Township, along with her brother James.257 She also appeared in the 1900 Census of Jackson Township. Sarah’s estate was in the Waynesburg Republican on May 31, 1928.170

She is confirmed as a daughter of James and Elizabeth as she filed for a Civil War pension based on her father’s service. Sarah A. Johnson is named as the dependent.
