Stanley Carroll Stockdale, 69, of Jefferson, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, in his home surrounded by his family.
Born June 23, 1947, in Rogersville, he was a son of the late Millard and Georgia Morris Stockdale.
He was a 1965 graduate of West Greene High School. He served his country in the U.S.
Army during the
Korean conflict and
Vietnam War. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was also a member of Carmichaels American Legion Post 400 and
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491. He retired in 2009 from the Blacksville Coal Mine No. 2. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed horseback riding. Above all, his daughters and granddaughter were the light of his life and very precious to him.
Surviving are his daughters, Chelsey (Wesley Brown) Stockdale, Breanna "Annie" (Logan Rose) Stockdale and Amber Black, all of Jefferson; son Sean Rossi of Waynesburg; granddaughter Karder Lillian Rose; former wife Crystal Black Markle; sisters Juanita Broadwater, Hilda Huey and Patty (Lloyd) Faux; and brother George Stockdale.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his granddaughter, Addison Mae Jeffries; sister Sandra Stockdale; brothers Bob and Neil Stockdale; and brother-in-law Pete Broadwater.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home LLC., 3275 West Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, PA 15359, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 29, with Dr. Edward Woods officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to his daughters.
