Sandusky Star-Journal (Sandusky, OH), Thursday, October 28, 1920:
“Confess Murders.
Steubenville, O., Oct. 28—Mr. and Mrs. Mike Ondrick, on trial at Wellsburg for the murder of Stephen Galchek, prominent florist, confessed today. Another sensation was sprung following the trial as the couple were being led to the Brook co jail. Mrs. Ondrick pointed to Hobart Grimm, prominent young man of Follansbee, W. Va., as being an accomplice. Grimm was arrested on a traction car when he attempted to escape. Mrs. Ondrick told the authorities that Grimm helped murder Galchek.”
The Logansport Morning Press (Logansport, IN), Saturday, July 9, 1921:
“Eleventh Hour Stay Is Granted
(By Associated Press)
Charleston, W. Wa., July 8.—Less than one hour for the time set for the hanging of Hobart Grimm tonight in the state penitentiary at Moundsville, Gov. Morgan granted a thirty-day stay of execution in order that he might go more thoroughly into details of the case.”
Hobart was hanged at the West Virginia Penitentiary at Moundsville, WV on August 5, 1921.
Charleston Daily Mail (Charleston, WV), Thursday, September 18, 1930:
“Pardon is Sought; Slayer, in Prison, Gives Notice of Formal Plea
Moundsville, Sept. 18 (AP)—Mike Ondrick, of Follansbee, serving a life term for the slaying of Steven Galchick in Brooke county on February 1, 1920, has filed public notice of application for pardon. Ondrick and his wife each were sentenced to life. Wilbur Jeffers, Moundsville youth, also drew life and Hobart Grimm, Wellsburg, was hanged in connection with the case. All but Grimm pleaded guilto to conspiracy to murder, assigning the bulk of the blame on Grimm.”
