James A. Ward, 76, of Bucyrus, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at MedCentral of Mansfield.
He was born June 16, 1933 in Union Furnace, Ohio to the late Arthur E. and Elva Ward. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Carey High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. On August 7, 1954 he married Dorothy A Beaschler who survives.
Jim worked locally with Home City Ice, Ekleberry Poultry, and Beaver Office Products. He was an accomplished auto body technician, self employed with his company Ward's Body Shop and Wrecker Service. Upon retirement, working with his son, Jerry at his company, JKA & JLW Services in Bucyrus, Ohio driving semi trucks.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Jim is survived by his children, Debera (Mark) Loesser of Findlay, Ohio, Patti (Mark) Fox of Bucyrus, Jerry Ward of Bucyrus and Terry (Tina) Ward of Findlay, Ohio; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren along with his oldest brother, Lawrence and sister, Rosie. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Michael Ward.
Jim's hobbies include John Deere Tractors and collectibles and RV travel/camping. He was an avid animal lover and is survived by his Chihuahua dogs, Dusty, Tipper and Danny.
Friends may call from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 27 at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820 where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Ken Lance officiating. A graveside committal service with full military rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Lee Cemetery
