Donald (Don) McGlothlen, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday April 8, 2006, at his residence. He was 69. Funeral services for Mr. McGlothlen will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 12, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Wallace Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Memphis Baptist Church Cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, PO Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302. Mr. McGlothlen was born August 30, 1936 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was a welder, farmer and a cattleman before moving to Dothan in the late 1980's. While in Dothan Mr. McGlothlen became an auctioneer and worked for several automobile auctions. He was ranked in the World Finals for auctioneering for several years and won the David Baize Sportsmanship award. Mr. McGlothlen was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. His mother, father and a brother, Roger McGlothlen preceded Mr. McGlothlen in death. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Helen McGlothlen, Dothan; two daughters and sons in law, Marlene and Gene Armstrong, Dothan, Karen and Paul Conquist, Garland, TX; four sons and two daughters in law, William Lee McGlothlen, Knoxville, IA, Robert Leroy and Lorie McGlothlen, Oskaloosa, IA, Michael Shawn McGlothlen, Dothan, Kevin Lee and Deborah McGlothlen, Olive Branch, MS; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Donnie Gilliland, Johnny Sorenson, Ronnie Lawrence, Steven Armstrong, Jessie Armstrong, and Steve Holt.
