Mrs. Mattie Shingleton, 89 of Route 39, St. Marys, died Monday morning, Sept. 11 at her residence. She was born in Pleasants County, Sept. 18, 1882, daughter of the late Squire and Liza Locke Poynter. She is survived by two sons, Smith of St. Marys and Roy of Weirton, 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clark Shingleton, one brother and two sisters. Funeral was Wednesday at Ruttencutter Funeral Home with Rev. Franklin Lambert officiating with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
