SHINGLETON, Donald LeRoy, 77, of Follansbee, WV, passed away March 31, 2013, at home after a three year battle with cancer.
He was born February 13, 1936, in St. Mary's, WV, to the late William Roy and Martha Lamp Shingleton.
He served in the Army National Guard. He retired from Weirton Steel Corp. as a motor inspector in the blast furnace Department with 34 years of service. He was also a member of the Hooverson Heights Church of Christ Wellsburg, Masonic Lodge No. 2, AF& AM, Wellsburg Eastern Star Chapter 23, and a Patron Life Member of the NRA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by his two brothers Coleman Lee and Deleno Shingleton.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Eckles Shingleton whom he married April 19, 1958; two sons, Robert L. Shingleton and his wife, Arlene of Gilbersville, PA, and David P. Shingleton of Follansbee, WV; a sister, Sarah Lou Safreed and her husband, Richard of Weirton, WV; three grandchildren, Christopher R., Megan M. and Jared D. Shingleton; one aunt, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. and then on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home 1515 Charles St. Wellsburg, WV. Services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Cooper Rev. and Lori Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
Wellsburg Eastern Star Chapter 23 service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. Full Masonic Graveside Rites will be provided by the Wellsburg Masonic Lodge No. 2 AF & AM.
