Former Pleasants County Board of Education member Leonard Hart, 82, of St. Marys, died Sunday in the emergency room at St. Joseph's Hospital. Hart was a graduate of Mountain State Business College, formerly served as office manager of Sinsmoor & Co. for 25 years and retired as the owner and operator of Bailey Gas. Co. He was a director of the Pleasants County Historical Society and a past member of the Pleasants County Board of Education. He was a member of St. Marys Lodge 41 AF&AM and St. Marys Presbyterian Church, where he was past clerk of session. He was born in Shultz, Pleasants County, a son of the late Ira Leonard Hart and Martha Horner Hart Oliver. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Adkins Hart; two sons, Leonard Hart Jr. of Columbus and Rick Hart of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Niles Hart and Stacy Hart, both of St. Marys, Melanie Hart and Jennifer Beightler, both of Columbus; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ermaleen Hart and Ruth Hart. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Ruttencutter Funeral Home, St. Marys, with the Rev. Dan Simmons and the Rev. Gene Adkins officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys IOOF Cemetery.
