Raymond William Current, Sr.March 27, 1928 - Decmeber 10, 2012
SALEM - Raymond Sr. passed away and went to be with our Heavenly Father. He went peacefully surrounded by family and the people he loved and cherished the most. Ray was born in Bemidji, MN to parents Maude and Elmer Alonzo Current. In the mid-1940's, he moved to Salem, OR where he settled and remained. Ray loved being with his family and friends, most notably is Lyle and Cindy Cochran. He was an accomplished and a well-known mechanic; and a humanitarian within the community. Ray managed and operated the Capitol Street Mobile Gas Station for many years. He would lend a helping hand and his time even if he didn't know you. Ray was predeceased by his first wife, Wilma Jean Grimm, and 2 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his current wife of 44 years, Pat, daughter, Margaret Raye [Ben], four sons, Raymond Jr. [Debbie], Gordon Dean [Becky], Richard Alan [Cindy], and Gregory Duane [Jared], and 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Ray was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. During his life, Ray enjoyed hunting, bowling, camping, boating, riding motorcycles, watching Sports and Car Racing, and spending time with close friends and family. He touched many lives and loved to reminisce about the good old days. Ray was an active member of many city-wide bowling leagues that have received several accolades and championship over the years. Ray had a great sense of humor and the occasional, good practical joke. What we will miss most will be his funny-grin when he's telling a story and his caring attitude towards anyone he met. At Ray's request, there will be no funeral services. Do not send flowers. Please donate to your favorite or preferred charity in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are by City View Funeral Home.
