Charles Thomas "Tom" Snyder, 58 of Charleston passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at home of a sudden illness.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline M. Snyder; grandparents, Tom and Grace Middleton of Parkersburg, and Cecil and Ada Snyder of Pennsboro.
He is survived by family and friends, and his best cat, Marti.
Tom was a self-employed certified home contractor who built many homes in Charleston as well as the Central Florida area. He was the designer and builder of the Kanawha Valley Dragway Park, Mason County. He worked in the engineering department for Bethlehem Mines, Kayford division and as a salesman for Executive Air. Tom was a licensed private pilot. In later years, he became a certified home inspector.
In high school and college, he was the drummer for the rock band The Soul Survivors. He loved cars, boats and airplanes. He was an avid Mountaineer football fan and a member of the Moose Lodge, Point Pleasant.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Tom on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2 p.m. at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Virginia Street, Charleston. The family asks that all friends in the area are welcome to attend.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Tom's wishes were that donations be made to the Kanawha Charleston Humane Society, 1248 Greenbrier St., Charleston, WV 25311.
