Sarah, wife of E. A. Hastings, was identified as a daughter living in Brooklyn in 1897, according to her father’s obituary. She died just four days after her father.

136“Death of Mrs. Hastings
At her home in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Monday, June 1, 1897, Sarah Louise, wife of E. A. Hastings, aged 38 years. Her remains were brought here an interred in the Brownsville Cemetery Wednesday. She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Acklin, and was married in 1876 to Mr. E. A. Hastings, then the editor of the Brownsville Clipper, to whom one daughter was born, Miss Eva, now a young lady. Tumor of the stomach was the cause of Mrs. Hastings’ death, from which she had long been a sufferer.”
