Obituary from The Washington Observer, Tuesday, October 28, 1952:
George L. McGlumphy, 86, of 32 S. Franklin St., died in his home at 9:30 pm Monday, October 27, 1952. He had been failing health the last two years and critically ill the past week.
He was born at Wind Ridge, Greene County, February 23, 1866, a son of Isaac and Henrietta Ferrell McGlumphy. He was a resident of Washington most of his life.
A carpenter by trade, he was well-known in the community. Mr. McGlumphy was active until ill health forced his retirement.
He was first married to Jennie Renner, who is deceased. To this union were born one son, Hallis McGlumphy, and one daughter, Mrs. Marie Nylund, both of San Francisco.
He was married the second time to Minnie Grimm, of Wind Ridge, in 1902. She died in 1929. To this union were born three daughters, Julia, wife of Gaylord Ewing; Marjorie, wife of Roy Duffy, both of Pittsburgh; and Agnes, wife of William A. Vester, of Wolfdale.
One sister, Mrs. Mary Carpenter, of Amity; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren also survive. Buried at Wind Ridge Cemetery.”
