Obituary:
“W. Ray Stockdale, 76, of Holbrook RD 1, died suddenly of a heart attack at 9 PM Wednesday, July 14, 1965, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital.
A well-known retired farmer, he was born October 5, 1888, at Nettle Hill to the late Robert T. and Mary Etta Williams Stockdale. His wife, the late Nellie Cumberledge Stockdale died November 16, 1960. Most of his life was spent in the Holbrook area where he was a member of the Claylick Methodist Church.
Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Wilfred ‘Blanche’ Brannon of Oil City, Mrs. Bob ‘Helen” Singleton of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Charles ‘Marie’ Stewart of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Allen ‘Pauline’ Wise of Wise of Graysville RD 1, Mrs. Percy ‘Grace’ Huffman of West Finley RD 1, Mrs. Clifford ‘Hope’ McCollum of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Jack ‘Faith’ Gillogly of Holbrook and Mrs. Dennis ‘Joy’ McCollum of Holbrook RD 1.
Also two sons, Jack of Ruff Creek and Harry of Delmont; three brothers, Thomas of New Kensington, Frank of Zanesville, Ohio and Dave of Nettle Hill; one sister, Nell Cumberledge of Nettle Hill; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A daughter, two sisters and a brother are deceased.

Friends of W. Ray Stockdale of Holbrook who died Wed., July 14, 1965, are being received at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dennis McCollum of Holbrook. Friends will also be received at the Claylic Methodist Church from 12 to 1 PM Sunday, the hour of service, with Rev. Stanly Darrah in charge. Burial in Bethany Cemetery. Arrangements in charge of the Lucas and Behm Funeral Home, Jefferson.”505
