Obituary, The Sacramento Bee (Sacramento, CA), September 30, 2009, p. B6:
Grimm, Mary Walters
Passed away peacefully in Carmichael, Calif., on September 24, 2009, at age 88. One of eight children, she was born and raised in San Francisco, attended Poly High and then graduated from U.C. Berkeley, in Economics. She was Director of Frederick Burk Lab School and then a Professor of Education and Counseling, at San Francisco State University. She was a role model and mentor to all who studied under her and her contributions to education have positively impacted many educators. Her compassion and understanding shined and she genuinely loved her chosen profession. Her wit, humor, intelligence, high principles, warmth and kindness set her apart. She was married 61 years to the love of her life, Claude Grimm, who preceded her in death in 2007. Mary loved her family, her faith and her friends. She enjoyed reading, discussing politics, Cal football, dancing with Claude, traveling the world and making people smile. Missing her deeply are her children Jeff (Bobbi) Grimm, Mike (Karen) Grimm, and Claudia (Rob) Hollingsworth, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many more loving family and friends. Memorial service will be on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 3:00 p.m. at the Carmichael Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Carmichael Presbyterian Church (Legacy of Faith) or First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame or the charity of your choice.
