Lindsay served in the Civil War with the 48th PA Infantry. He filed for a Civil War pension on July 22, 1890 because of disability. His widow, Phebe, filed a claim on Jan. 22, 1891 as a widow, and another claim on May 25, 1895 on the basis of a minor child, Parry.

Unfortunately, his death record does not give a birth date, only his age (50).
