John was living in McGrew, Nebraska in 1948 when his brother George died.1221

Obituary, Waynesburg Democrat Messenger, Feb. 10, 1953, p. 8:
“John C. Grim of McGrew, NE. Born near Delphene in 1869 the son of Lawrence Clark and Margaret Milliken Grim. Wife, Marie Johnston Grim. Five sons and two daughters: Charles L., Francis, Maurice, George, Harlan, Lorena, Marie, and Mrs. Paye [Faye?] Jones of Waynesburg from a former marriage. Several grandchildren, five great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Charles S., Lawrence B., Benjamin H., Odest O., Jobe, Homer, Debbie L., Mrs. Millie DePoe. Burial at McGrew, NE.”1226 The newspaper also published a notice the following day, Feb. 11, 1953 on p. 8 giving the date of death of Saturday, February 1, 1953.

John C. Grim

Word has been received by Lawrence B. Grim, of Holbrook, of the death at 12 midnight Saturday, February 1, 1953, of his brother, John C. Grim, of McGrew, Neb. He had been ill for about two years.

Mr. Grim was born in 1869 near Delphene in Greene County, a son of Lawrence and Margaret Milliken Grim.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Johnston Grim; five sons, Maurice Grim, George Grim, Charles L. Grim, Francis Grim and Harlan Grim; and three daughters, Lorena and Maria Grim, and Mrs. Faye Jones, of Waynesburg.

Als surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Charles S. Grim, Lawrence B. Grim, Benjamin S. Grim, Odest O. Grim, Jobe Grim, Homer Grim, Debbie L. Grimm and Mrs. Millie DePoe.


George L. Grim, III, great-nephew of John C. Grim, told me that John was a sheep rancher who had a ranch of about 30,000 acres.1227
