Raymond served in World War II in the Marines. He was in the Pacific offensive and was at Iwo Jima. He and Peggy were married after the war and moved to Canton, OH.

“Word has been received of the death of Raymond L. Staggers, 67, of 1507 41st Street, N.W., Canton, Oh., formerly of Greene County, who died Sunday, October 8, 1989, in his home, following an extended illness.
He was born in Bristoria, and moved to the Canton area in 1946.
He was the owner of Staggers Realty, and for many years worked for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring in 1982.
A member of the Dueber Methodist Church, he was a veteran of World War II, having served withe the U. S. Marine Corps.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy C. Staggers, whom he married December 29, 1944, three sons, Thomas R. of New Philadelphia, Ohio, William W. of Minerva, Ohio and John L. of Carrollton, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. William (Penny) Coy of East Canton, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Patterson of Canton and Mary Fessler of hartsville; a brother, Roy Staggers of Dunbar; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and two adopted step grandchildren.
Services and burial were held in Canton.”
