“John M. Sheridan Dies In Hospital
Waynesburg, Sept, 12--John M. (Jack) Sheridan, 79, well known in Southwestern Pennsylvania, died in the Greene County Memorial hospital Tuesday, September 12, at 2 a.m.
Mr. Sheridan spent his entire life in the oil and gas fields of West Virginia and Pennsylvania, and since the death of his wife two years ago made his home in the Fort Jackson Hotel.
Mr. Sheridan was born in Onerville, N.Y., September 21, 1863, a son of William and Margaret Cavana Sheridan. Thirty-nine years ago he married Hannah Staggers, of Richhill Township.
Two sisters survive. They are Miss Mary Sheridan and Mrs. Em O’Neil both of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Friends will be received in the Ralph H. Scott Funeral Home in Rogersville until Thursday morning, September 14, when the body will be taken to the St. Anns Catholic Church in Waynesburg, where services will be held at 9 o’clock, in charge of the Rev. George P. Angel. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville.”
