Obituary:
“Ed Bales was born December 14, 1887 in Garrod County, Kentucky, the son of James and Elizabeth Rogers Bales. He moved with his parents to northern Missouri when he was only a few months old. Later on the family moved to Vernon County, Nevada, Missouri, where he lived until March, 1926. He at that time came to Farmington, Missouri to work at the state Hospital. He remained employed there until he retired December 23, 1957.
Mr. Bales was unied in marriage to Rose Burch, September 2, 1944. They have lived on the Burch Homestead for the past ten years.
He had one sone by a previous marriage, E. A. Bales of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Two brothers are living. They are: Joseph Bales of Nevada, Missouri, and Thomas Bales of Joseph, Oregon. The remainder of his family passed away a number of years ago.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Rose; a son, E. A. Bales, and wife, and five grandchildren; also two brothers and a number of other relatives.
Mr. Bales passed away at the Bonne Terre Hospital March 8, 1959 following a heart condition.
Funeral services were held in the chapel at Miller Funeral Home, March 11, 1959 at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Everett Huff, with interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Doe Run.”
