“Russell (Jack) S. Nelson, aged 71 years, of Washington, PA., formerly of the Graysville area, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1988, at 3:35 p.m. in the Washington Hospital.
He was born June 17, 1917, in Gray Twp., a son of the late John R. and Grace E. Filby Nelson and had been a rsident of Greene COunty all his life prior to moving to Washington in 1945.
He was Protestant by faith.
He was employed by Jessop Steel of Washington for approximately 37 years as a shearman, prior to retiring in 1979.
Mr. Nelson was a member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 American Legion of Washington and the Steelworkers Union.
On October 8, 1938, he married Mary Kathryn Headley who survives.
Also surviving is one son, Michael Nelson of Washington; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Jack Nelson.
Deceased is an infant son; one brother, John Rudolph Nelson.
He was the last of his immediate family.”179
