“Earl (Pat) Swan, 68, of Mayfield St., Middlebourne, died Thursday at the Worthington Manor Extended Care Center in Parkersburg. He was born in Middlebourne, Jun 9, 1909, a son of the late Charles and Mertle Grimm Swann. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and retired as a major in the Army Signal Corps. He was retired from the Veterans Administration as a contact representative and from the West Virginia Department of Highways. At the time of his death he was an office staff employee of the City of Middlebourne.
He is survived by one brother, Bill Swann of Middlebourne; four sisters, Mrs. J. E. (Nell) Orr of Belpre, Mrs. Mary Young of Vienna, Mrs. Maude Benson of Atalachin, NY and Mrs. William (Pearl) Pew of Kingwood.
Friends will be received at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Middlebourne today from 7-9 pm and Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Services will be held Sunday at 2pm at the funeral home with the Rev. D. W. Poling. Interment will follow in the Middlebourne Cemetery.”57
