“Harold E. Grim
Attended Pleasant Hill Methodist Church
Harold E. Grim, 77, of Killbuck, N.Y., died Saturday, May 31, 2003, in Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 2, 1925, in New Freeport, a son of Walter and Edith Hoy Grim.
Mr. Grim owned and operated Grim’s Fudge with his family for more than 25 years. He previously had operated Castile Flea Market for 10 years. He also worked for Pittsburgh Pipe Cleaning Co. from 1959 to 1974.
He attended Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in New Freeport and was a charter member of United Steel Workers of America Local 5969 in Lackawanna, N.Y.
Mr. Grim enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and hiking.
On October 4, 1948, in Waynesburg, he married Eva Simpson, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Larry Grim of Tucson, Ariz., Thomas Grim of Pennington, N.J., and Brian Grim of Grand Island, N.Y.; two daughters, Catherine Heveran of Talent, Ore., and Ellen Abernathy of Plainsboro, N.J.; nine grandchildren; a brother Karl Grim of Hundred, W.Va.; two sisters, Wilma Lemmon of Daisytown and Gladys Gaines of New Freeport; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a granddaughter, Shawn Michelle Grim; and four brothers, Wilfred, Kenneth, Wayne and Robert Grim.”
Funeral notice, Observer-Reporter, June 4, 2003:
Friends of Harold E. Grim of Killbuck, N.Y., who died Saturday, May 31, 2003, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in O’Rourke and O’Rourke Funeral Home Inc., 25 River Street, Salamanca, N.Y. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, in Pine Bank Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carol Adcock officiating. Burial will be in Pine Bank Methodist Cemetery.”
