Obituary:
John Everett Lemmon, 78, of Daisytown, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, in his home.
He was born August 18, 1935, in New Freeport, a son of the late Joseph W. and Sarah Rice Lemmon.
Mr. Lemmon was a 1953 graduate of Waynesburg High School.In 1990, Mr. Lemmon retired from the Peoples Natural Gas Co. with more than 33 years of service. He was last employed as a supervisor at Cooper Warehouse in Fallowfield Township. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club and Scenery Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. Lemmon was a member of F&AM Lodge 237, Beallsville, and was a 30-year member of Uniontown Lodge of Perfection.
He enjoyed collecting engines of all types. The smallest engine in his collection would fit in the palm of your hand. He was a former member of National Pike Steam, Gas and Horse Association, Washington County Antique Engine Association, served more than seven years as president of Ohio Valley Fly Wheels Engine Association and was a member of Gas and Oil Festival of Sistersville, W.Va.
Mr. Lemmon enjoyed traveling to many manufacturing plants throughout the United States. He traveled on many antique car tours with his wife in their 1950 Ford or their 1951 Ford pickup truck. He was a member of Antique Automobile Club of America, Ford and Fordson Collectors Association, Ford N-Series Club, Covered Bridge Region AACA and Peony Club.
On April 28, 1954, he married Wilma I. Grim Lemmon, who survives. Both she and her husband were eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new great-grandson.
Also surviving are three children, Karen R. Muldrew (David) of Wheeling, W.Va., John Everett Lemmon Jr. of Claysville and Kevin R. Lemmon (Chris) of Charleroi; four grandchildren, Sue-Ann Woods (Joseph) of Morgantown, W.Va., Daniel R. Muldrew of Fairmont, W.Va., Shelby Lemmon and Jake Everett Lemmon, both of Charleroi; three sisters, Jane Glidewell of Flagstaff, Ariz., Wilma Kay Braddock of Morgantown and Mary Ellen McCollum of Sycamore; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. F&AM Lodge 237 will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
