Lester served in WWII.
426Lester and Norma were married and divorced twice. They married first on June 20, 1944, divorced in 1949, were remarried in Uniontown, PA on January 30, 1950, and divorced again around July 1951.
The Morning Herald (Uniontown, PA), June 27, 1944:
“Families Of Couple Are Witnesses
Norma Hankins Bride Of Lester Kelley, Veteran World War II
Norma Hankins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hankins of Grindstone, was married Tuesday, June 20, 1944, in the Methodist church of Brownsville, to Lester Kelley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kelley of Grindstone. Rev. Paul Holden performed the 10 o’clock ceremony.
The bride wore a powder blue suit with white accessories, and heer corsage was of pink roses and baby’s breath.
The couple were attended by Floyd and Lucille Kelley, brother and sister of the bridegroom. miss Kelley was attired in a navy blue dress with white accessories, and her corsage was also of pink roses.
The ceremony was witnessed by the immediate familes of the couple.
The bridegroom was recently discharged from service in the U. S. Army, having been wounded while participating in the North African invasion. At present the couple are residig with the bride’s parents in Grindstone.”

“Divorce Libel
Lester Kelley, of Grindstone, filed a divorce libel against Norma H. Kelley, address unknown, in the office of Prothonotary John J. Brady yesterday. He charges indignities. The couple were married here on January 3, 1950.
The Daily Courier (Connellsville, PA), July 13, 1951:
“Neither of two marriages to the same woman was a success testified Lester Kelley of Grindstone in his divorce from Nora [sic] Kelley whose address is unknown. The first marriage was performed June 30, 1944, and the second, January 3, 1950, in Uniontown. The initial divorce was granted in 1949. The husband claimed he was tricked into the second ceremony. His wife, he testified, declared she loved his brother and not him.”
