“G. Edward Grim
Mechanic and heavy equipment operator
G. Edward Grim, 48, of New Freeport, died at 12:05 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2006, in West Virginia University Hospitals (Ruby Memorial), Morgantown, W.Va., from injuries received in an ATV accident on Sunday.
He was born January 6, 1958, in Waynesburg, a son of Geraldine E. Gray Grim of New Freeport and the late George Wayne Grim, and had resided in the New Freeport area all his life.
Mr. Grim was a 1976 graduate of West Greene High School.
He was employed as a mechanic by the former Grim Transportation Co. in New Freeport for several years and was a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 132. He was currently employed as an operator by Atlas Railroad Construction.
Mr. Grim enjoyed hunting and fishing and thoroughly enjoyed operating heavy equipment.
His companion of the past 20 years was Kathy Tedrow Kramer.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three stepchildren, Erica, wife of J.D. Phillips, Billy Joe, wife of Ron Lemasters, and Heidi Kramer, fiancZe of Kevin Britton; a sister, Teresa Brown of New Freeport; two brothers, Charles (Robin) Grim of Oklahoma City, Okla., and George W. Grim of New Freeport; and three stepgrandchildren, Chandler and Alexis Phillips and Serenity Britton.
Deceased, in addition to his father, is a brother who died in infancy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 5, with the Rev. Vernon K. Berdine officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Gilmore Township, Greene County. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ed Grim Memorial Fund, Union Bank, Rte. 250, Hundred, WV 26575.
