Doris Margaret Gross (Dody)

Doris Margaret Gross, age 80, passed away peacefully in her home in Orem, Utah on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2002. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 17, 1922 in Washington, West Virginia to Orpha Elsa Heinselman and Alfred Charles Heinselman.

Dody met her husband, Don, while in Nurses Training at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr, PA. They were married at Saint Coleman’s Roman Catholic Church in Ardmore, PA on April 10, 1943. They were sealed as husband and wife for time and eternity in the Washington, D.C. Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

They raised their 3 beautiful daughters in Malvern, PA, where Dody served in the Primary and Relief Society organizations of her church. She was active in community affairs and sang with the Great Valley Singers. She had a love for learning, and taught the Gospel Doctrine class for many years both in her ward in PA and iin Orem, Utah where they moved in 1983.

Dody and Don have a love for the youth, and have maintained special relationships with several young people who came to live in their home over the years. Dody found enjoyment in singing, oil painting and flower gardening. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Dody is survived by her husband Don Gross, brother Darrell Heinselman, three daughters, Linda (& Carl) Thomas, Judy Howells, and Nancy (& Randy) Miller, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Orpha Elsa and Alfred Charles Heinselman, and grandson Aaron William Howells.
