Robert Lee "Red" Grimm, 80, of Parkersburg, passed away Dec. 26, 2008, at the Arbors in Marietta.
He was born May 27, 1928, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Issac and Margaret Grimm. Red started at age 15 as a delivery person for Niswander Hardware in Parkersburg. He became a sales clerk and continued working until the store closed in 1973. From there, he worked for Scott Lumber Co., where he retired as a sales clerk. Mr. Grimm loved working outdoors and helping his wife, Helen, babysit children they took care of. He enjoyed spending time with the family dog, Kasey, and cat, Tink.
Mr. Grimm is survived by his daughter, Bobette Grimm of Parkersburg; one stepson, James Hannaman of Beckley, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Chana Siders and her husband, Kenneth Siders Jr., of Parkersburg; and two step-grandchildren, Michael and Cassandra Siders of Parkersburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Helen L. Grimm; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Jim Mike Ward officating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
