Obituary, Leavitt Funeral Home:
“Donald R. Burnfield, 81 of Vincent, Ohio died on February 27, 2010 at the Heartland of Marietta after a long battle of cancer and heart disease.
He was born on October 13, 1929, the son of William and Mary Conley Burnfield. Don was the owner/operator of Burnfield Trucking for many years. He was an excellent diesel mechanic, a veteran of the United States Air Force, and a member of the Belpre Church of Christ. He had many hobbies of which his favorite was to watch TV with his little dog "Katie Sue" sitting at his side. He was very involved in racing of any kind, he loved Nascar and local dirt track racing. Mowing grass was a favorite past time for him, he kept his yard and the farm looking nice.
He is survived by his wife Janet Cooper Burnfield, his three sons, Steve Burnfield of Vincent, Ohio, Barry Burnfield and his wife, Madalyn of Corpus Christie, TX, Brant Burnfield and wife, Karen of Vincent, Ohio, one daughter Kelly Ollom and husband Marc of Vincent, Ohio and a step daughter Debra Radabaugh of Belpre, Ohio, fourteen grandchildren Brandon Burnfield and wife Tiffany, Brian Burnfield and fiance Tiffany, Aaron Burnfield, Cameron Burnfield, Chelsea Burnfield, Emma Burnfield, Lilly Burnfield, Elle Burnfield, Megan Burnfield, Devon Burnfield, Mallory Burnfield, Kyle Ollom, Kara Ollom, Elisabeth Radabaugh and fiance Chad Hoon, one great granddaughter, Blair Burnfield, his brother Mark and his wife, Barbara of Vincent, brother-in-law, H. Gene Cooper and wife Norma of Parkersburg, WV, sister-in-law, Deloris (Dee) O'Dell of Surfside, SC, four nieces, Judy Kidder, Sandy Graham, Patty Meek and a special niece, Kim Ball, several aunts and uncles, with many more nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceeded in death by on son, Gregg Burnfield, one brother Rod and his wife, Donna and several aunts, and his in-laws, Myrtle and Wilbur Cooper.
Funeral services will be at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Ron Laughery and Brian Grubbs officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Fairview Cemetery, Belpre and Sayre Cemetery, Palestine, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 - 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Don's memory to one of the following, Courage to Change Ministries or Honduras Missions in care of the Belpre Church of Christ, 2932 Washington Blvd., Belpre, Ohio 45714. Envelopes will be provided.
