Obituary, News and Sentinel (Parkersburg, WV), October 11, 2022:
Mary Lou Horner, 91, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Oct. 9, 2022, at Belpre Landing Nursing & Rehabilitation.
She was born on Dec. 17, 1930, in Lubeck, WV, the daughter of the late Hubert Ellison and Alma Gertrude Frankhauser Cochran.
Mary Lou had worked at the Parkersburg News and Sentinel in the advertising department for several years. She had served as a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts when her children were young. Mary Lou was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church for many years.
She will be remembered for her good sense of humor and the ability to make others laugh. Mary Lou was a sports fan and enjoyed attending her childten’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She gladly assisted them before school and after school whenever needed. She loved traveling the country with her husband Jack while he was touring with the National Bowling Association. Mary Lou enjoyed pampering her various pets over the years.
Mary Lou is survived by her three children Stephen N. Horner, John David Horner (Nancy), Lisa Anne Aiken (Allan) grandchildren Amber Moore (Michael), Taja Horner, Tyler Horner (Deneka Hedges), Lakin Thompson (Corey), Makayla Aiken, Zane Aiken and great grandchildren Bryce Moore, Anabelle Moore, Journey Thompson and Daxton Thompson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Richard Horner in 2017, infant son Franklin Lee Horner, brother Paul Cochran and sister Doris Boone.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Chaplin Donald Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery North in Parkersburg
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
