Jimmy Nelson Higgins, 75, of Newport, Ohio, passed away Sept. 12, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio.
He was born July 21, 1939, in Pleasants County, W.Va., a son of the late Lawrence Edward and Rosa Elizabeth Higgins Davis.
He was a member of St. Marys Church of the Nazarene. He had been a truck driver for various companies for 46 years, including Gatewood Products, RWD Leasing and Higgins Trucking. He had served in the National Guard for seven years.
Surviving are two sons, David Wayne Higgins of Marietta, Ohio, and Jimmy R. Higgins of Newport, Ohio; grandchildren, Dustin Higgins, Kayla Higgins, Jessica Higgins and Jody Higgins; one sister, Ethel (Tom) Weekley of St. Marys, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Eugene Butler; and three sisters, Patsy Deloras Potts, Elizabeth Imagene Felton and Viola McDonald.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va., with Pastor Jesse Keenan officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Federal Ridge in Pleasants County, W.Va.
