Virginia Beach - Ruth Caroline Russell Grim died peacefully on September 7, 2013. She resided the last 4 years of her life at the Gardens of Virginia Beach Assisted Living.
She was born on April 3, 1923 in Norfolk and lived there all her life except for 7 years when she lived in Denver, CO. She graduated from Maury High School. She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Harry H. Russell; a brother, Buddy Russell; and her dear husband Harlan [died in June 2012]. They had been married for 69 years at the time of his death.
She was active in her churches, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. Loving flowers she belonged to garden clubs and enjoyed her women's clubs. She especially enjoyed helping young children in the Norfolk School System learn to read and volunteering at Sentara Leigh Hospital. She was always busy but especially loved traveling the world with Harlan and keeping her memories in numerous scrapbooks.
She is survived by her daughter Susan and son-in-law Arthur Nalls of Norfolk; her beloved grandsons and their wives, Chris and Karen of Pasedena, CA and Brian and Cabell of Richmond, VA; and her sisters Agnes Cole of Richmond, VA and Beverly Steger of Prattville, AL.
